NOTE, REMOTE-FRIENDLY ROLE: Unlike some of our other job postings, this is a remote-first role. No preference is given to candidates from a specific geography, and we’re excited to consider candidates from any international location!

We’re looking for an incredible site reliability engineer to help us build the future of blockchain scalability.

This is an ideal opportunity for an SRE who has experience or interest in running performative blockchain infrastructure, at scale. Caldera currently serves over half a billion requests per day, and secures hundreds of millions of dollars in value.

We’re backed by some of the best investors (Sequoia, Dragonfly, and others) and offer competitive pay, equity in the company, and full benefits.

About Caldera

Caldera enables dynamic, scalable blockchain experiences. Currently, dapps that are deployed to general-purpose blockchain compete with thousands of other applications for space on the network — this can lead to congestion and high fees or even network outages.

That’s where we come in. We’re building software that makes it easy for the most innovative blockchain applications to launch their own ultra-performant blockchains (rollups), enabling applications to own their ecosystem, scale to millions of users, and provide a superior user experience to their players.

Our headquarters are located in San Francisco.

Who You Are

  • Experienced with cloud technologies, especially Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Helm

  • Hands-on experience with cloud / infrastructure providers, including AWS, Vercel, and Cloudflare

  • Requires strong knowledge of AWS, including expertise in its management and deployment services, to ensure efficient and reliable infrastructure operations.

  • Knowledge of blockchains (especially Ethereum and Ethereum L2s), past experience running Ethereum nodes or similar in production

  • Experience with high-performance networking, load balancers, and VPC

  • Independent and opinionated, able to solve problems with no hand-holding

  • Keen eye for security, solid understanding of threat modeling and secure system architecture

  • Clear communication skills (written and verbal) to document new processes and architectures, and occasional communication with customers

  • Actively look for ways to help out beyond the scope of your day-to-day work

  • Experienced in Linux and shell scripting; additional ability in other scripting or programming languages (especially Javascript, Go, Python) strongly preferred

  • Customer-focused, with high empathy for both developers and end-users

  • Passionate about working with engineers to make architectural decisions, codify best practices, and lead incident response

  • Comfortable being on-call as the main point-of-contact for our customers during incident response

If in doubt, please apply! We will find a place for great candidates, even if you feel that you don’t check all of the boxes 😀
