About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer for our Billing team to design, build, and scale Crusoe Cloud’s billing platform. This role sits within the Cloud Customer Experience (CCX) organization and is critical to enabling accurate, transparent, and reliable billing for our customers.

You will own core billing systems end-to-end, from metering and pricing to invoicing and payments, ensuring they are highly reliable, scalable, and easy to understand. This role requires deep collaboration with Product, Finance, Customer Success, and other engineering teams to deliver a seamless and trustworthy billing experience.

What You'll Be Working On:

• Own Critical Systems: Lead the design and operation of highly reliable billing services that directly safeguard revenue, eliminate data leakage, and maintain customer trust.

• Drive Architectural Vision & Strategy: Own the multi-year technical roadmap for Crusoe Cloud’s billing platform, designing high-throughput metering, pricing, and invoicing architectures that scale with growing AI compute workloads.

• Drive Accuracy & Transparency at Scale: Architect real-time and batch usage processing pipelines, immutable ledger models, and automated reconciliation engines to ensure absolute financial correctness and auditability.

• Partner Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Finance, Product, Customer Success, and Support teams to align and translate complex enterprise pricing, commitment models, and business strategies into resilient platform capabilities.

• Enable New Business Models: Architect flexible, extensible billing capabilities and platform primitives to support rapidly evolving cloud offerings, dynamic pricing, and enterprise commitments.

• Mitigate Systemic Risk & Improve Reliability: Establish robust safeguards, transaction standards, and automated verification workflows to proactively detect, isolate, and prevent billing discrepancies.

• Drive Observability & Correctness: Elevate system observability, end-to-end reconciliation processes, and fault-tolerant error handling to guarantee billing state consistency across distributed systems.

• Mentor and Lead: Set architectural practices, drive architecture reviews, and mentor Senior and Staff engineers across the organization to build a high-performing engineering culture around financial data.

What You'll Bring to the Team:

• Billing Systems Experience: Extensive track record building and operating mission-critical billing, payments, high-throughput metering, or financial ledger systems (or similarly complex, high-integrity distributed data platforms).

• Strong Ownership Mindset: Proven ability to own multi-year technical vision and complex systems end-to-end, with an uncompromised focus on correctness, reliability , and long-term maintainability.

• Professional Experience: 9+ years of software engineering experience designing distributed backend systems using languages such as Go, Java, Rust, or C++.

• Distributed Systems Expertise: Expertise designing and scaling fault-tolerant, low-latency distributed systems with strong data consistency guarantees, idempotency patterns, and immutable ledger architectures.

• Data & Processing Knowledge: Familiarity with real-time and batch data processing, event-driven architectures, and data modeling for financial systems.

• Cross-Functional & Executive Collaboration: Proven ability to work closely with Product, Finance, and non-technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical capabilities..

• Attention to Detail & Financial Integrity: Rigorous focus on financial correctness, edge cases, SOX compliance/auditability, and building safeguards to prevent revenue leakage.

• Observability & Reliability: Experience establishing robust observability, automated reconciliation, and alerting frameworks across high-volume distributed environments.

• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: History of setting engineering standards, leading architecture review boards and mentoring Senior and Staff engineers to elevate overall organizational capability.

• Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to articulate complex architectural trade-offs, system constraints, and strategic roadmaps to both technical teams and executive non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation Range

Compensation will be paid in the range of up to $250,000 - $300,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicants knowledge, education, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
