The Cboe Digital team is hiring for a Sr. Site Reliability Engineer.
The Sr. Site Reliability Engineer is a role served by veteran technologists with a diverse set of skills ranging from software development to systems, network, application, and/or database management that possess deep subject matter expertise in one or more of these skills. The Cboe Site Reliability Engineering team is a highly skilled unit responsible for platform engineering, configuration management, implementation, capacity planning, performance tuning, analysis, troubleshooting, reporting, and process automation. The Sr. Site Reliability Engineer provides technical support to the Cboe Digital Development, Product, Operations, QA and Infrastructure teams as needed. The Sr. Site Reliability Engineer also works closely with Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Network Engineering teams to troubleshoot complex issues and coordinate and support platform configuration updates. A Sr. Site Reliability Engineer must be able to work independently with little to no direct supervision in performing their duties.
Your responsibilities will be:
- Provide for configuration management of new and existing Trading, Clearing, Risk platforms and support implementation of new features and functionality based on new business requirements. Monitor development activities, change management tickets, and evaluate their impact on Cboe Digital Operations. Execute daily change tickets assigned to Site Reliability Engineering in support of updates to production, disaster recovery, and certification systems.
- Provide technical leadership, support, and operational oversight to sustain resiliency and high availability of critical business operations. Monitor production, disaster recovery, and certification systems for issues. Troubleshoot and drive resolution of issues. Analyze and optimize performance of real-time trading platforms, clearing and risk systems. Investigate software defects. Assist the build team to resolve build/deployment issues.
- Drive capacity planning decisions for Cboe Digital and support capacity planning needs. Provide an active voice within Capacity Planning meetings with engineering and technical operations management staff.
- Provide thought leadership to identify task automation opportunities. Support automation efforts through development, testing and maintenance of technology stack.
- Create and improve upon existing reports related to Operations management. Analyze technical data sets (e.g. order entry, market data, matching engine logs) to troubleshoot or explain perceived issues. Execute SQL queries against a database to perform data analysis for customers and associates. Service and support historical data product requests.
- Lead and participate in weekend testing (e.g. capacity testing, fail-over, etc.) and provide for 24x7x365 on-call technical support for the Operations team as needed.
The ideal candidate has:
- Minimum Years of Work Experience: 8-10 years
- Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Business, Financial Services, Communications, or a related discipline.
- Experience using Python, Java, Ruby, or equivalent demonstrable software engineering experience.
- Experience with deployment systems across major Cloud vendors including AWS, Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure, with strong expertise in AWS.
- Prior experience building out CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience using UNIX Shell, MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL or other databases.

- CI/CD implementation expertise
- Experience with monitoring tools (Datadog, Zabbix, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Business, Financial Services, Communications, or a related discipline.
