Senior Manager – Index Development, QIS Indices

Location: Chicago or New York (Flex Hybrid)

Job Description

Position Summary:

Sr Manager level role with the Cboe Global Indices (CGI) team. The team currently researches, designs, and implements new index strategies on behalf of Cboe Global Indices and CGI’s clients. This role includes backtesting and launching new derivative strategies on behalf of clients, focusing on Quantitative Investment Strategy (QIS) clients. This role will provide exposure to derivatives, partner indices, and clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs a combination of the following functions:

  • Backtesting and launching custom derived indices, utilizing client methodology to quickly launch indices
  • Work collaboratively with CGI clients to assess viability of client methodology
  • Participate in client meetings to evaluate index concepts, providing direction and gap analysis relative to CGI capability
  • Work collaboratively with other Cboe departments on new index launches as well as post-launch support
  • Build index calculation models for client methodologies
  • Gather data from Cboe and external sources and building replicable access procedures
  • Prepare documentation to ease transition of launching indices operational CGI teams
  • Follow CGI controls and QA procedures to ensure launch success

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience building quantitative based index backtests
  • Strong quantitative and programming skills; experience in R, Python, and SQL with preference to Python
  • Exposure to writing APIs to access various databases
  • Experience with reading/writing index methodology and index formulas
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Familiarity with optimization routines
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Minimum of 7 years experience at an index provider, investment bank, or asset management firm

Education:

Bachelors degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field required. Advanced degree preferred.

As required by the New York City Human Rights Law, Cboe provides a reasonable range of minimum base salary for roles that may be performed in New York City. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, level of experience, etc. For New York City only, the range of starting base salary for this role is $165,000-$273,000. Additional incentive compensation and benefits may be available.
