Candidates should be versatile, eager and able to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive financial and technical environment. Our interns will have the flexibility of working 2 days remotely, and 3 days in office per week at one of our state-of-the-art offices in Chicago, Kansas City, and New York City. To be eligible for this internship, applicants must be enrolled in a university or college program and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the year in which the internship takes place. The Cboe Clear team is hiring for a Clearing Business Intern.
The Clearing Business Intern at Cboe Clear will be involved in numerous projects working across the clearing organization (Business Development, Membership, Product, and Operations). The intern will be expected to understand the lifecycle of a Clearing Member (“Member”) and Trading Privilege Holder (“TPH”) from developing sales leads, to onboarding & support, to offboarding. In addition, the intern(s) will be expected to learn the day-to-day back-office processing of treasury functions, reconciliations, and movement of assets. At the completion of this Clearing Internship Program, the Intern is expected to have general knowledge and understanding of the internal workings of the Clearinghouse.
Your responsibilities and learning objectives will be:
- Work closely with the Membership team supporting the Business Development groups distribution efforts by using and administering internal software to manage client data and track internal metrics (Salesforce, Confluence, organization charts).
- The Intern will learn and perform Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) due diligence on clearing member applicants.
- The Intern will obtain a core understanding of CFTC customer segregation requirements and the operations of a clearinghouse.
- The Clearing Business Intern will be able to document what a futures contract is and its life cycle.
- The Intern will understand the differences between a physical delivery vs a cash settlement.
- The intern will develop a glossary of standard industry terms used in futures markets, clearing organization, and futures commission merchants.
The ideal candidate has:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in a related field in Finance, Economics, Management, or related area and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the year in which the internship takes place.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Acts with integrity and handles sensitive information with care.
- Proficient with Microsoft office suite.
- Must be able to commute to Chicago, IL office location on a regular basis.
