Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs a combination of the following duties according to Department and Division guidelines:
- Carefully monitor domestic and international regulatory and legislative initiatives that may impact the markets operated by the Company.
- Draft polished and well-articulated position papers and comment letters on market policy matters of importance to the Company.
- Support the Company’s efforts related to Environmental, Social and Governance initiatives.
- Support market policy communication initiatives including in collaboration with other Departments. This includes managing outside consultants, the Department’s web page and generating content for the webpage.
- Work closely with others within the Department and Company to ensure consistent policy positions.
Work Experience:
- Deep knowledge (5 or more years’ experience) of the markets in which Cboe operates trading venues, including CFE and Cboe options.
- Advocacy experience related to market structure a plus.
- Ability to lead meetings and/or independently meet with legislators or regulators and advocate on technical market structure issues.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong writing skills required including experience in drafting correspondence to regulatory agencies. Writing samples will be required.
- Understanding of derivatives products and markets. Market structure and legislative knowledge preferred.
- Proven ability to work well across numerous functional areas.
- Strong interpersonal skills and personal leadership.
- Ability to direct internal resources or outside consultants on projects.
- Ability to grasp and summarize complex regulatory and legislative proposals and produce clear and effective position pieces on such proposals.
- Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to complete projects working independently and in team settings.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement, sensitivity and creativity to changing needs and situations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle a challenging workload. Proficiency with Adobe, Office and related software.
Other:
- Market Policy and Governmental Affairs is a collegial group. A team-player who likes to have fun is preferred.
- Position involves considerable autonomy. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute on projects is desired.
- Must be willing to work with legislative offices from all political parties.
- Some travel is required.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required. J.D. and/or an advanced degree required.

As required by the New York City Human Rights Law, Cboe provides a reasonable range of minimum base salary for roles that may be performed in New York City. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, level of experience, etc. For New York City only, the range of starting base salary for this role is $108,000-$178,000. Additional incentive compensation and benefits may be available.
