The Market Supervision team is hiring for Market Supervisor.

The Market Supervisor at Cboe will be making an active contribution towards combating market disruption and abuse across European equity and derivative markets and will have the opportunity to develop key skills within the overall market supervision area.

In this role you’ll be responsible for:

  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of the Cboe Rulebook, Participant Manual, the Market Abuse Regulation and the various strategies used to commit market abuse.
  • Using automated alerts and complex tools to monitor transactions on Cboe for market abuse (as detailed in the Market Abuse Regulation). Ensuring that all potential breaches identified are escalated promptly to the team.
  • Carrying out investigations of potential market abuse, making recommendations internally for referral to the appropriate regulatory authority.
  • Supporting on-going development of market abuse framework.
  • Assisting with the development of the analytical tools used to monitor and investigate potential market abuse.
  • Conducting enquiries with trading participants in respect of anomalous activity.
  • Ensuring that accurate records of potential market abuse reviews and investigations are maintained.
  • Analysing and maintaining surveillance alerts and review statistics.
  • Performing regular alert calibration and deep dive exercises.
  • Maintaining an awareness of regulatory developments in respect of market abuse and the overall exchange landscape.
  • Oversight of trade and transaction reporting data.
  • Periodically reviewing market surveillance procedures and performing updates in line with business growth and applicable regulatory changes.
  • Operate on a shift basis, covering the hours of 08:00 to 19:00.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Minimum 2 years experience of working within the financial industry, with knowledge of surveillance tools and market abuse regulation desirable.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a quantitative or finance related subject preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency - experience of working with large data sets across a variety of data-exploration and data-visualisation software applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills including how to take a structured approach to investigating potential anomalies and assemble evidence to support a conclusion
  • Numeracy – a grasp of statistics that would support data-investigation.
  • Excellent communication skills – the ability to speak and write with clarity and impact, with keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent teamwork skills; able to work effectively individually and collaboratively in a team, to develop relationships (internally and externally), and to identify opportunity for change and challenge appropriately.
  • Good interpersonal skills; creates and develops relationships both internally and externally.
  • Accountable, organised, methodical, flexible and able to follow up findings in an efficient and thorough manner.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.

You’ll really stand out with:

  • Experience of working at a Recognised Investment Exchange, Multilateral Trading Facility or a Regulatory body.
  • Programming skills relevant to exploring large data sets, including Python and SQL
  • A keen interest in financial markets.
