The Cboe Europe Legal team is hiring for a Senior Legal Counsel.

The Senior Legal Counsel at Cboe will have day-to-day ownership of legal work arising in relation to the Cboe Europe entities and be required to assist the Head of Legal on project work as required. This position reports to the Head of Legal, Cboe Europe. The team further consists of two Senior Legal Counsels and Chief Legal Officer. The Cboe global legal team consists of around 40 lawyers. The Senior Legal Counsel will be based in the Netherlands.

In this role you’ll be responsible for:

  • Supporting the equity and derivatives exchanges and benchmark administrator
  • Market data arrangements
  • Regulatory assessments and applications
  • Inter group company arrangements
  • Outsourcing
  • Commercial contracts
  • New product initiatives
  • Corporate secretarial and governance
  • Legal advice and guidance to senior business leaders regarding legal issues in the area of focus and regarding how complex business goals may be achieved from a legal perspective

The ideal candidate has:

  • A qualification to practice law either in the Netherlands and/or the UK
  • 6 - 10 years of post qualification experience in financial services, equity capital markets and/or financial market infrastructure either in house or in private practice
  • Familiarity with EU/UK capital markets legislation e.g., MIFIR, MIFID and/or EMIR
  • Experience with filings and applications
  • Strong experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage business stakeholder expectations, fluctuating workload, and priorities

You’ll really stand out with:

  • A good understanding of the European securities industry/capital markets
  • Familiarity with European capital markets legislation e.g., MIFIR, MIFID and/or EMIR
