Monad Labs is the team building Monad, the performant and parallel EVM Layer-1 blockchain. We are a team of systems engineers and community builders who are on a mission to help crypto eat the world. After recently raising $225M in series A funding, we are growing our team.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with excellent knowledge of linux systems and significant experience building new automation for infrastructure and testing. You will be joining a small, talented team of systems experts to extend the testing and automation for a high-performance next-generation blockchain.

Our team is headquartered in NoMad, Manhattan, NYC. This is for a hybrid (3 days/week in office) role. If you are remote, the preference is in Europe.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in the DevOps/SRE/Linux Engineering space
  • Experience in setting up a devops environment and CI/CD platform (GitHub Actions or Jenkins) from scratch
  • Hands-on experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet)
  • Proficiency in at least one back-end development language such as Python, Go, or C++
  • Proficiency with command-line git
  • Experience writing scripts for deploying and maintaining infrastructure (Linux installations, clusters, and networks)
  • Experience evaluating and improving observability and security practices
  • Experience with network setup and maintenance
  • Experience with virtualization technologies like Docker, Qemu, etc
  • Ability to write scripts and help with testing and automation

Bonuses:

  • Experience working at an early-stage startup
  • Experience running blockchain nodes

What you’ll be doing

  • Building, testing, and deploying code across multiple cloud and hosted environments
  • Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Linux (Fedora/Ubuntu) installations
  • Building and maintaining test networks
  • Maintaining and improving our network infrastructure
  • Contributing to observability standards and security
  • Participating in on-call rotation for production support

Why work with us

  • Challenging problems. You’ll work on extremely challenging problems with massive impact.
  • Huge opportunity. The Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) standard is ubiquitous, but existing EVM-compatible chains are very slow. Monad’s core innovations offer developers the best of both worlds (portability and performance) and are a game-changer for mass user adoption in crypto.
  • The right team. You’ll be part of a small, exceptional team (bios here).
  • Culture. We’re a lean team working together to achieve very ambitious goals. We are united in our culture of collaboration, low egos, and high-quality outputs. As an early member of our team, you’ll help continue to shape our culture.
  • Compensation. You’ll receive a competitive salary and equity package.
  • Resources and growth. We’re well-capitalized, with backing from leading venture funds like Paradigm, Electric Capital, Greenoaks, Dragonfly, and Coinbase Ventures. We keep a lean team, and this is a rare opportunity to join. You’ll learn a lot and grow as our company scales.

Salary and benefits

Minimum full-time salary of $200,000. (**This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary; a final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.)
