Your Role
We are looking for a hands-on Tax Manager/Director who has experience in the web3 and blockchain industry. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing all corporate tax matters, building the tax infrastructure, process and controls to support Polygon Labs’s rapid growth.

Your Responsibilities
Corporate Tax Compliance & Reporting
Prepare US income tax, indirect tax and all foreign tax filings to ensure compliance with reporting requirements
Review work performed by external tax/accounting advisers
Manage local country tax operation process and support finance teams in review of statutory financials of foreign entities
Ensure accurate and timely preparation and filing of all tax returns, including income tax, VAT/GST, and transfer pricing documentation in coordination with advisory firms
Review local payroll tax requirements including withholdings, treatment of incremental benefits, tokens and other reporting requirements.
Digital Asset Tax:
Manage tax implications of web3 specific transactions such DeFi transactions, token issuances and airdrops.
Tax Planning & Strategy
Support tax audit defense and notices as required
Support global tax planning efforts and global transfer pricing policy maintenance
Transfer Pricing Strategy
Play a key role engaging with cross functional and global groups within the company to understand the tax impact of business operations and ensure that tax needs are identified, communicated and provided.
Coordinate with Finance and Legal teams for inter-company transactions tracking and assist with review of transfer pricing and intercompany transactions related calculations and reporting
Cross Function Collaboration
Work closely with accounting team on financial reporting
Manage and support tax controls and processes
Improve and maintain audit-ready work paper documentation
Lead tax reviews during M&A transactions and ensure all tax matters are addressed including transfer pricing, IP considerations, purchase of stock, transfer of assets, etc..
Process Optimization
Maintain clear timeline documentation for tax filing deadlines and forecasted payments for leadership.
Assist in continuous identification and development of efficient tax compliance and tax provision processes, including automation, developing and implementing procedural changes and/or processes
Conduct internal tax audits and provide recommendations to enhance tax processes, controls, and efficiencies
Coordinate with accounting to identify and document tax reporting requirements and report generation via NetSuite
What You'll Need
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
5+ years of international and corporate tax experience in public accounting and/or in-house experience - Big 4 experience a major plus
Extensive experience of international tax matters
Prior crypto accounting experience
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles including the ability to review a trial balance, and transactions
Preferred Qualifications
Strong communication, organization and project management skills with the ability to work with various business partners, key stakeholders, and external advisors
Detail-oriented and able to take full ownership of projects
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research, synthesize, apply and explain complex tax matters/concepts to non-tax business partners and stakeholders
Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Positive attitude, work ethic, resourcefulness, and flexibility
